Today's Read
Generous with four pangrams and a deep -TION payoff
This O-centered hive is unusually generous: 63 verified answers, four pangrams, and a thick band of long -TION words that can carry your score in a hurry. Start by testing O through the invitation, innovation, and violation lanes before you bother with four-letter cleanup. Repeated letters matter more than usual here, so keep double O, double T, and even double L alive instead of assuming the board wants cleaner shapes.

Pattern Prompts
Work The Board Without Reveals
- -TION ladder: The fastest scoring route is the deep -TION family, which branches from short bases into multiple eight- to twelve-letter answers. Examples: nation, notation, novation, violation, volition.
- INVIT- and INNOV- builds: Once you see that both invitation and innovation families are live, the board opens into two separate long-word highways. Examples: invitation, invitational, innovation, innovational.
- VIOL- to VOLI- pivot: Do not stop at VIOL or VIOLA; the same lane upgrades into pangram territory and another long premium word. Examples: viol, viola, violation, volition, volitional.
- Repeated O cleanup: Double-O answers are everywhere, so save a deliberate late pass for the short repeated-vowel words after the long stems are banked. Examples: loon, loot, noon, tool, toon, toot.
- Double-T confidence: Repeated T is not a novelty here; it is part of several verified answers and unlocks both niche and high-value words. Examples: allot, annatto, lotto, tattoo, titillation.
- Short O-openers as cleanup: After the long routes, sweep the tiny O-led answers quickly because several four-letter stragglers hide there. Examples: olio, onto, oval, iota.
Common Prefixes
IN-
IN- drives the biggest long-word family on the board and leads directly into the invitation or innovation clusters.
Examples: into, initiation, innovation, innovational, invitation, invitational, intonation
NO-
NO- branches from easy cleanup words into the notational family, so it is stronger than it first appears.
Examples: noon, notation, notational, notion, notional, novation, nonillion
VI-
VI- starts one pangram lane and one long instrumental side branch, making it worth a dedicated pass.
Examples: viol, viola, violation, violin
VO-
VO- is smaller but still productive because it grows from simple entries into the VOLI- payoff words.
Examples: voila, volant, volition, volitional
Common Suffixes
-tion
This is the backbone suffix for the whole board and should be tested against nearly every viable stem.
Examples: nation, notation, novation, ovation, violation, volition, invitation, intonation
-tional
The premium scores live here: once a base reaches -TION, check whether the board also supports the longer adjectival form.
Examples: notational, volitional, innovational, invitational
-ion
Several medium and long answers land here before extending farther, so it works as both a finish and a checkpoint.
Examples: anion, lion, nation, notion, ovation, volition
-al
A surprising number of shorter support words finish in -AL, which helps confirm when a stem is worth extending.
Examples: alto, atonal, national, notional, oval, tonal, total, volant
Progressive Help
Pangram Hints
Pangram lane 1
Two pangrams live in the INVI or INNO neighborhood, so test the long -TIONAL endings before hunting isolated short words.
Reveal words: innovational, invitational
Pangram lane 2
The V branch is not just VIOLA and VIOLIN; it contains two all-letter answers if you push into abstract-noun territory.
Reveal words: violation, volitional
No-spoiler nudge
All four pangrams are at least nine letters long and lean on the same O-heavy long-word texture that dominates the board.

Why these matter
- innovational
One of the two 12-letter invitation or innovation payoffs, and a strong sign that this board rewards committing to the long -TIONAL lane early.
- invitational
Pairs with INNOVATIONAL to make the board feel unusually generous once you notice how much mileage the INVIT- stem has.
- violation
A pangram that turns the shorter VIOL branch into a serious scoring route instead of a decorative side lane.
- volitional
Another pangram and one of the best reminders that the VOLI- family is deeper than the simpler VIOL and VIOLA shapes suggest.
- titillation
A long non-pangram worth chasing because it proves repeated T and repeated I builds matter throughout this hive.
- nonillion
Easy to miss because it looks overly niche at first glance, but it cashes in on the board's comfort with repeated N and O.
- aioli
A good early confidence check that the vowel mix is workable and that culinary-looking entries are in play today.
- llano
Useful because it confirms doubled consonants and a less common LL opening before you spend too long second-guessing them.
Hard Finds
Tricky Accepted Words
- aioli
This is a common miss because the vowel order feels unstable until you deliberately test A-I-O together.
- llano
The double-L opening and Spanish loanword feel both make this one easy to talk yourself out of.
- annatto
A doubled-N and doubled-T food word that only shows up if you stay open to repeated-letter chains.
- lanolin
This one is valuable because it extends the LA/LO animal-product lane farther than many solvers expect.
- nonillion
It looks extravagant, but today's board really does support a long number word.
- titillation
Long, repetitive, and easy to abandon too soon unless you trust the T-I-TI pattern.
- volant
Shorter than the big V words, but odd enough that it is a strong late-board catch.
- olio
A compact repeated-vowel answer that helps when you need to mop up overlooked four-letter points.
